Sylvia Tosun Interview:

Dayanna Guerrero: We’re here with Sylvia Tosun who just finished an amazing performance here at Club MIA. Sylvia, how does it feel to have just performed amongst some of the best and most recognizable voices in the industry like Nadia Ali, JES, Kim Sozzi and more?

Sylvia Tosun: It was amazing to be on the same bill as them and Sirius XM has been so supportive to all of us. First of all, Nadia Ali has just been around for so long with great, great material and I have loved her voice for years. It was incredible to hang out with her a little bit today and Kim Sozzi is from New York and I’ve known her, but JES is somebody that I have absolutely worshiped as a singer. Her voice is the most gorgeous velvety voice I’ve ever heard in my life and almost interview when they ask me who’s my favorite singer in EDM it’s always the answer – JES.

Dayanna Guerrero: And she’s sweet!

Sylvia Tosun: Oh she’s so sweet and she’s gorgeous.

Dayanna Guerrero: Your last single “World Keeps Turning” was a big success and topped charts like FMQB. When can we expect another original track from you?

Sylvia Tosun: Oh well I have one out right now it’s called “An Angel’s Love” and it’s being supported by Armin van Buuren and I wrote it with Alex M.O.R.P.H. So that’s the new one out right now and we have new things coming up as well. Also, with the label Sea to Sun we’ve got a lot of releases as well as we’re busy! (Laughs)

Dayanna Guerrero:
(Laughs) What took so long for you two to make an original track together? That is – Alex M.O.R.P.H and you?

Sylvia Tosun: Not long at all. He sent me some really beautiful chords and I wrote an aria over it but Armin van Buuren had it for many months as an exclusive which is why it wasn’t released for a while. Armin took it for himself and rightfully so because we’re very grateful for Armin’s support.

Dayanna Guerrero: How do you feel about its success?

Sylvia Tosun: I love it! I can’t believe it! It just shot up so fast and we were like “Oh my God, people like it!” It was a Sally Field moment.

Dayanna Guerrero: (Laughs) Is it safe to say with the massive reaction that “An Angel’s Love” received, that we’ll start seeing a lot more work from you in the trance world?

Sylvia Tosun: Well I have another song out with Alex M.O.R.P.H very soon (also being released on Armada), it’s called “The Circle”. So that’s coming up next and that’s my next collaboration with Alex and Armin.

Dayanna Guerrero: That’s amazing! We look forward to seeing that one. For fans not in town for Miami Music Week, where can they expect to hear you perform?

Sylvia Tosun: On BPM Sirius XM of course!!

Dayanna Guerrero: You recently did a public service announcement for the “Be the Link” campaign. Can you tell us more about it?

Sylvia Tosun: Be The Link Campaign is something that my friends and I have been involved in for a while in the New York area. It’s to raise awareness, that the AIDS pandemic is not over, it’s an epidemic and [there’s] so much going on with different walks of life, not just the gay community. It still needs a lot of attention and sometimes when we get side tracked with other really important charities and trying to keep everybody healthy and trying to keep this world intact [that] we forget about the things that we’ve spent so much time on. They all need attention so this kind of brings light to the AIDS campaign, to abolish AIDS forever.

Dayanna Guerrero: And the man standing next to you, he was your violinist.

Sylvia Tosun: Yeah! This is Micah the violinist!

Dayanna Guerrero: Hi Micah!

Micah: Hello how are you!?

Dayanna Guerrero: Good! You played beautifully! I mean you just went along right with her voice and kept with the tempo. How does it feel to be performing alongside?

Micah: I love, love, love performing with Sylvia. She’s an amazing vocalist, an amazing person, I love her to death.

Sylvia Tosun: He said that because I’d kill him if he didn’t. That’s where the death part came in.

Micah: No, seriously. Not only could she sing house, she can sing pop, she can sing opera, she can sing jazz.

Dayanna Guerrero: She does it all.

Micah: She sings everything, she’s seriously amazing.

Sylvia Tosun: He’s lying it’s my Kazoo playing that he really loves.

Micah, Sylvia Tosun & Dayanna Guerrero: (Laughs)

Dayanna Guerrero: Can we expect to see more performances with you two together?

Sylvia Tosun: Well yes, we’re performing right now..

Micah: We’re actually talking about doing a lot together in Europe, Russia (Internationally) so yeah.

Dayanna Guerrero: So we’ll be hearing a lot more form you! So Sylvia, what current projects is Sea To Sun working on and what can we expect from them in the future?

Sylvia Tosun: We have some amazing DJ’s and artists. We’ve got Sted-E & Hybrid Heights, we have a wonderful artist called Joshua Micah, we work with the House Rejects where Micah, our violinist here is a co-founder and creator of and we have great tracks coming up so stay tuned!

Dayanna Guerrero: You’re keeping busy Micah!

Micah: 7 days a week/24 hours a day.

Dayanna Guerrero: Is she over working you?

Micah: She’s over working me but I love it!

Dayanna Guerrero: Sylvia, thank you so much and we can’t wait to see more from you and Sea To Sun Recordings.

Sylvia Tosun: Thank you so much!
